Environmental protection and stewardship is not only an ongoing priority for EllisDon but how we measure our overall success. We are fully committed to leading the way in cleaner construction by using our environmental management system to recognize and reduce our impact on the land and biodiversity, with a focus on waste and water reduction.

Awards & Recognition

2021 Toronto Construction Association Outstanding Safety Culture Award: Presented by the Toronto Construction Association, this award recognizes a company’s actions that inspire their employees to go “above and beyond the call of duty” in how they conduct their day-to-day safety protocols.
2021 Roy A. Phinnemore Award: Presented by the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association to Stephen Chaplin, our Vice President of Health, Safety & Environment, this award is for people who have diligently served the cause of construction health and safety, whether through services, contributions, inventions, procedures, or any other means.
Milestone Award for Safety: The Ontario General Contractors Association presented EllisDon with the 2020 Milestone Award for Safety in recognition of over 6 million continuous hours without a lost-time injury.
Bronze Telly Award: EllisDon’s Safety Orientation Video won this award in 2013 in recognition of our ongoing dedication to safety training.

Canada’s Safest Employer Award: Presented by Canadian Occupational Safety in 2016 in partnership with Workplace Safety and Prevention Services, this prize encompasses 10 industry-specific categories; EllisDon was awarded Gold in Building and Construction.
Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association Award for Leadership in Safety: This award is for individuals or organizations in construction who publicly assume a leadership role in advancing the objective of reducing human and economic losses as a result of workplace accidents. EllisDon was the recipient in 2018, 2016, and 2010.
Employer Safety Champion Award: With this award, The Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia Mainstay recognizes an employer who has demonstrated an exemplary health and safety program and a proven injury prevention track record. EllisDon was awarded this honor in both 2011 and 2016.
