Expo 2020 Dubai Canadian Pavilion Grand Opening Ceremony
The Canadian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is officially open for visitors. Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Marie-Geneviève Mounier, Commissioner General for Canada, Expo 2020 Dubai - Global Affairs Canada, Michael Bailey, Deputy Commissioner General - Global Affairs Canada, Tchad Joiner, Director - Global Affairs Canada and EllisDon team members and volunteers, visitors stepped inside the wooden geometric lattice to discover Canada as a leader and an innovative collaborator through an immersive journey of artistic expression.
Inside the Pavilion, visitors are surrounded by a 360-degree theatre experience inspired by the vast Canadian landscape. The journey highlights the links between Canada’s natural beauty and resources, the power of its Indigenous peoples’ traditional knowledge and the diversity and dynamism of Canada’s urban centres, which are engines of creativity, innovation and prosperity.
The design of the Canadian Pavilion was also inspired by the Expo’s theme of “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future” and the meeting of cultures, with a strong focus on sustainability. The circular shape of the Pavilion is a universal symbol of unity, evoking the relationships humans have between each other and with the land.EllisDon is honoured to have been selected to design, build and maintain the Canadian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and to be part of the World’s Greatest Show!
