EllisDon's Thunder Bay Correctional Complex Project Soars Past Milestones
It's been two dynamic years since the Thunder Bay Correctional Complex project broke ground, and we're excited to share the impressive progress that has been made.
Here's a snapshot of the major accomplishments to date:
- A colossal 360,000 m³ of earth has been moved, reshaping the landscape and laying the groundwork for what's to come.
- Several kilometres of underground utilities have been meticulously installed, forming the complex's intricate hidden network.
- Parking structures and roadways are now in place, setting the stage for future paving and infrastructure.
- A massive 19,000 m³ concrete substructure has been completed, forming a solid base for the complex.
- The skeleton of the facility stands strong with a 3,000 tonne steel structure, complete with a beam signing to mark the occasion.
- 1,600 precast panels were erected across the housing and central blocks, shaping the physical presence of the complex.
Other recent achievements include finishing the housing block roof and beginning the mobilization of our roofing contractor for the central block. The interior slab on grade is also now complete, spanning over 400,000 sq ft.
Looking ahead, our team is focused on achieving the next major milestone: having the building enclosure substantially complete by the end of 2024.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Thunder Bay Correctional Complex continues to rise!
