On Saturday, October 15, 2016, the EllisDon team in Ottawa sponsored and participated in the Re/Max Affiliates Charity Run in Carleton Place, Ontario, a small town in Lanark County located just outside of Ottawa. The Remax Affiliates Charity Run / Walk is split in two main events with a 5km and 1km trail, giving racers of all fitness levels a chance to participate. This is a highly energetic and family friendly event designed to raise money, awareness and celebrate the presence of a great local resource in our community, the Lanark County Interval House. The Lanark County Interval House is an emergency first stage shelter for abused women and children offering support in the way of in-house residence, transition and children’s programs, as well as a crisis line.“It was an emotional run for charity with some of us new to running and setting up our own goals. Our 5k run was a fantastic day all in all and the motivation between runners and walkers was impressive. Standing behind EllisDon’s reputation of always giving back to our local communities was a proud moment.” – Jennifer Hebert, Assistant Project Manager.
EllisDon first became involved with Lanark County Interval House in August after having worked on several projects in the surrounding area. On August 25th EllisDon employees came out in numbers to participate in a company sponsored BBQ, raising an amazing $2,805.00.The Lanark County Interval House has been operating since 1977. Investments in this local facility ensure that they can continue to provide high quality counselling, services and resources to women and children who are suffering from violence and abuse. Donations will also directly support their continued offering of protection, support, food and shelter, counselling, safety planning, public education and advocacy.
