Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) celebrates project milestone

Exciting news out of Ottawa! Our team at the CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre site celebrated the topping off of the parking garage earlier this month marking a substantial milestone of the project.

The new treatment centre will bring together programs and services for kids and youth living with complex medical, developmental, behavioural or mental health needs into a new, state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility on CHEO’s main Smyth Road campus.

Infrastructure Ontario and CHEO selected EllisDon Infrastructure OCH Inc. to design, build and finance the treatment centre after extensive evaluations following an open, fair, and competitive request for proposals process that began in November 2022. The EllisDon Infrastructure OCH Inc. team consists of:

  • Applicant Lead: EllisDon Corporation
  • Design Team: Montgomery Sisam Architects Inc., Vertechs Design Inc., WalterFedy, Mulvey & Banani International Inc., H. H. Angus and Associates Limited, Entuitive Corporation
  • Construction Team: EllisDon Corporation
  • Financial Advisor: EllisDon Capital Inc.

The CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre will include multi-use clinic space, a physiotherapy rehab gym, mental health clinics, warm and welcoming indoor and outdoor multi-use spaces for children and youth with complex needs, modern treatment rooms for kids with behavioural needs, advanced technology to enable virtual care, a physical link to CHEO’s hospital, family support spaces, and a new parking structure.

Construction for this multi-year project, which also includes a new parking garage began in November 2023 and substantial completion is expected in fall 2027.

CHEO is a global leader in complex pediatric care, research, and education and annually cares for 500,000 children and youth from eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and northern Ontario.
