We are proud to announce the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre in Nova Scotia has achieved LEED Gold certification under the LEEDv4 Healthcare rating system! Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED® is an international symbol of sustainability excellence and green building leadership.

In the Hospital sector, the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre is the first in Nova Scotia and one of about 50 in Canada to reach this status.

The center's sustainable efforts are impressive, including a stormwater retention pond designed to capture and infiltrate 100% of rainfall from the site. Furthermore, the facility's energy-efficient design features are expected to reduce building energy consumption by 39%.

Located on a 15-acre site, the Outpatient healthcare facility features a 3-storey building with dedicated units for eye care, hemodialysis, surgical clinics, orthopedics, rehabilitation, primary care, diagnostic imaging, and specimen collection. Moreover, 32% of the site is an open space with exterior features including scenic pathways, therapeutic garden space, and dedicated places of respite for staff and visitors.
