In honour of Black History Month, EllisDon is proud to highlight our employee-led group, VIBE. VIBE is EllisDon’s employee-led leadership group committed to enacting tangible steps to eradicate anti-Black racism. These steps are designed to disrupt the current norms and propel us toward the world we aspire to create, not merely accept. Through these actions, VIBE aims to foster a sense of belonging for everyone and maintain a space for constructive dialogue.

VIBE is a feeling. It’s an invisible thing you subconsciously detect when you meet someone new. It’s the energy you feel when you’re with other people and a sentiment that leaves you feeling like you want to go back to a place where you feel like you belong, want to grow, and do great things.

This year, the theme for Black History Month is Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations. The VIBE committee is proud to support this theme through initiatives that honour the achievements of Black Canadians and encourage meaningful conversations about equity and inclusion.

VIBE has already hosted the first of two ED Talks webinars on The Black Experience in the Workplace, with a second session planned for the end of the month.

The goal of these sessions is to provide employees with actionable and practical strategies that promote meaningful participation, collaboration, and engagement across teams.

Through these initiatives, we aim to continually foster a workplace where every person feels valued and empowered.
