The Story

The QEW Credit River Improvement Project involves the construction of a twin bridge crossing Credit River from west of Hurontario Street to west of Mississauga Road, as well as the rehabilitation to the existing bridge. The rehabilitation will meet traffic requirements and other mainline improvements related to the new Credit River Bridge, and the scope will include:

• The QEW highway being widened from its existing six-lane mainline cross-section to eight-lanes with auxiliary lanes;
• Improvements and reconfiguration to the existing Mississauga Road;
• Improvements to the interchange and ramps that will add an extension of the Mississauga Road eastbound off-ramp as an auxiliary lane to the Hurontario Street eastbound off-ramp;
• The construction of a new overpass as a replacement of the Mississauga Road Overpass to accommodate the QEW;
• Drainage and stormwater management improvements on the QEW to accommodate two new ponds at Mississauga Road and on the east side of the Credit River, north of the QEW; and
• Additional highway illumination, extending the high mast lighting to the west of the Mississauga Road Interchange and ER light poles on the new Credit River Bridges.
