The Story

EllisDon Civil East is undertaking the construction of the new Musquodoboit Harbour Bridge, marking the company's first heavy civil project within this locale. Key features of this project include:

  • Demolition of existing 45.7m "Warren Type" truss bridge
  • Construction of a new 48m bridge with steel I-girders and concrete deck
  • Maintenance of traffic flow via a temporary modular bridge during construction

Construction Approach
To ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic, a critical link between Halifax and Eastern Nova Scotia. A temporary 61-meter bailey bridge will be constructed to enable ongoing two-way traffic.

  • Construction works involve asphalt paving and erecting modular block retaining walls.
