EllisDon and their joint venture partner Kinetic Construction successfully delivered this 500,000 SF renewal (new construction and renovation) of the existing Hillside Centre Mall in Victoria, BC to Triovest Realty Advisors.

The challenge for this project is the logistics in performing interior and exterior phased construction while the mall is fully operational throughout entire process. To overcome this challenge, EllisDon developed comprehensive construction logistics plans, frequently updates the project schedule, and implemented daily coordination / meetings with the owner, trades and CRU tenants to ensure a successful outcome.

A major part this project’s success was due to EllisDon’s involvement in the preconstruction process. Twelve months prior to the start of construction, EllisDon led the extensive pre-construction services assignment which included design assist, value engineering, constructability reviews, schedule development / updates, budgeting and subtrade prequalification / tendering. The project was delivered successfully on-time and on-budget.
