The Story
The Edmonton Law Courts project involved interior renovations to multiple areas throughout the north and south towers of the Edmonton Law Courts and the John E. Brownlee Building. Renovations to the building included asbestos abatement, upgrades to architectural finishes, flooring, millwork, doors, frames, hardware, paint, and updates to mechanical and electrical systems.
Renovations also included strict upgrades to sound rating in areas where sensitive conversations take place. Doors and frames required Sound Transmission Class (“STC”) ratings up to STC 50, and some wall assemblies required STC 59.
All work for this project was completed on night shifts and was highly coordinated with the client and user groups, which were temporarily relocated during construction.
