The Story

The Calgary International Airport's Concourse C, Baggage Hall Project, was a strategic initiative to enhance outbound baggage handling capabilities, ensuring the airport could accommodate increasing passenger demand. This development serves as an interim solution pending the construction of a new international/trans-border concourse.

Construction Details

  • A pre-engineered building was erected to house the new baggage hall with a dedicated steel framework to support advanced baggage handling and explosive detection systems.
  • Removal of an existing boarding gate allowed for the necessary apron space to construct the interim baggage hall.
  • Integration with the current terminal was achieved through modifications to the existing structure, tying the buildings together seamlessly.
  • Three new service bridges were constructed, facilitating efficient routes and access between the terminal and the new baggage facility.
  • The project also necessitated upgrades to the emergency power systems to support the expanded operations.
