Humber College Cultural Hub Phase 1 Opens!

Milestone news out of Toronto! The Humber College Lakeshore Campus Cultural Hub reached occupancy on Phase 1 this past August and Phase 2 has broken ground this past July.

Striving for the highest-possible standard of sustainability, the project has achieved LEED Platinum certification and is now a net zero carbon facility. Two sequential phases of construction are required to accommodate Humber’s ongoing academic programs.

The first phase of the Humber College Cultural Hub (HCH) project involves the construction of an educational facility at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus. The academic portion will deliver an approximately 200,000-sq. ft facility that will improve access to education, training and engagement in arts and culture.

With combined efforts of our Toronto Buildings and Mass Timber teams, the project includes: a recording studio, performance spaces, practice rooms, film studios, teaching spaces, music labs and editing suites.

With a mix of mass timber, structural steel and concrete, the HCH will provide world-class, technology-rich teaching and performance spaces, performance hall 140-seat (max.) recital hall and professional-quality music, film, TV, multimedia and design studios. It will provide much-needed capacity to meet the growing demand for skilled talent in creative industries and deliver important benefits to culturally underserved local communities.

The second phase of the HCH project involves the construction of an educational facility at Humber’s LakeshoreCampus. The project will include a mixed-use building that will contain 3 storeys plus a mechanical penthouse, including academic rooms, film studios, mixing suites and a large performance hall for 500+. The academic portion of the project will consist of classrooms, a theatre, lecture halls, lounge areas and café spaces.

Congratulations to the team for these great milestones!
