In honour of Women in Construction Week, we’re celebrating the incredible women at EllisDon who help drive our success. The 2025 theme, Show Us Your Strength, highlights the many ways our colleagues shape the industry through innovation, leadership, and collaboration.

We had the opportunity to speak with Mehak, a Senior Project Coordinator who shed light on her career in construction:

“I was always fascinated by the big buildings around me and that’s what attracted me to construction. The biggest misconception I think people have when it comes to women in construction is that this job is not meant for them. It’s opened doors for me to make great connections and be part of some incredible projects.”

Over the years, we've seen an increase in women employed in the construction industry and we remain committed to supporting and empowering women as they make their mark in construction.

In celebration, events are being held at offices across EllisDon from site tours in London, to networking events in Toronto, Edmonton and Ottawa, to keynote speakers in Calgary to a “High Heels and Hard Hats” wine and cheese!

Celebrating women in construction is not a one-week occasion. EllisDon strives to empower women every day. From hosting Take Your Daughter to Work Day, to our national sponsorship with Jill of All Trades, we continue to seek opportunities that focus on getting women into construction early. In addition, we are proud to support our employee-led group, Together, which is committed to fostering an environment where everyone is treated with kindness and respect, and empowered to achieve success.

For us, celebrating and empowering women in our industry is a continuous effort by every team member, division, and office to be inclusive in every facet possible.
