In the wake of COVID-19, EllisDon was quick to take action and create safe work practices and procedures which mitigated the effects of the virus at work locations and surrounding communities. In addition to immediately implementing  enhanced measures, EllisDon became a leading example in the industry by working with the province of Ontario.

EllisDon became a leading example in the industry with it’s implementation of the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Pilot project. Working with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, EllisDon executed this program, voluntarily testing workers on-site starting in December 2020. With case numbers quickly rising, EllisDon proactively expanded rapid testing to other job sites, and changed the protocol from voluntary to mandatory screening as an enhanced measure to keep employees, workers, and community members safe while remaining operational.

Over 250,000 rapid tests have been administered by EllisDon employees and subcontractors to date.
