Expanding our presence in Atlantic Canada
When we see opportunity, we go for it. That's how we landed in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador when we were awarded the stipulated price contract for the new 500-bed residence at Memorial University.
The project will be staffed entirely by local construction talent and expertise, led by Ken Shugarue, Regional Manager of EllisDon Newfoundland and Labrador. Ken, a native of River Head, Harbour Grace, spent 8 years with EllisDon outside of the province, from 2000 to 2008, but was itching to "get back to the rock." When he heard we won the Memorial University job in 2011, he jumped at the chance to join the team again.
"There is a reason why EllisDon is consistently listed as one of the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Canada and One of the Best 50 Managed Companies in Canada," said Ken. "They work on some of the most recognizable building projects around the world and they invest in their people."
But our work in Newfoundland and Labrador doesn't end with this project.
"We see huge potential in the healthcare, education and oil and gas markets in Newfoundland," said Brian Strecko, EllisDon's Vice President and Area Manager of Atlantic Canada. "The residence that we're building at Memorial University is just the beginning. We're looking forward to becoming a member of the St. John's community."
In the Atlantic Provinces, no one comes to the table with as much leadership and open communication as EllisDon.
